George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was an Americansoldier, farmer, and statesman, as well as the first President of the United States under the U.S. Constitution. Washington became known as the "Father of His Country". He was commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary Warand presided over the 1787 Constitutional Convention. As a leading Patriot, he was among the nation's Founding Fathers.
